Rickards is a perfect 6-0 against Jefferson County since February of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rickards Raiders will host the Jefferson County Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Rickards is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
On Tuesday, Rickards came up short against Aucilla Christian and fell 7-2.
Rickards saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jahmir Williams, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Jefferson County can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They put the hurt on FAMU DRS with a sharp 14-4 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the game before.
Ja'Lon Crumity was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Levi Carrol, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Marcos Vargas was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Jefferson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as FAMU DRS only posted an OBP of .414.
Rickards' loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Jefferson County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rickards has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jefferson County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Rickards' way against Jefferson County when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Rickards made off with a 16-1 win. Does Rickards have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jefferson County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
