The Rutgers Prep Argonauts will face off against the Union Catholic Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Rutgers Prep sitting on four straight victories and Union Catholic on seven.
If Rutgers Prep beats Union Catholic with ten runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Argonauts didn't even let Montgomery on the board on Thursday, marking the Argonauts' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The Argonauts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Li Perez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alex Perez was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Ethan Nepomuceno was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Rutgers Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montgomery only posted a batting average of .100.
Meanwhile, Union Catholic narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Summit 8-7.
Brayden Morrison was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Greg Viloria, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Rutgers Prep's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Union Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 9-4-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rutgers Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Union Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
