MORENO VALLEY, Calif. -
Poly (Riverside, Calif.) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat Valley View (Moreno Valley, Calif.), 42-7, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
David Samuelu touchdown run in the first quarter, the Bears led 28-0 at the half.
Poly grew its lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. PHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by
Anthony Banks to
Ykili Ross.
Valley View's lone touchdown came on a 55-yard pass from Abraham Nuno to Hakeem Eubanks in the fourth quarter.
The Riverside school had given up an average of 17.3 points prior to the contest. The seven points that the Eagles ended with were well below their average of 25.8 coming into the game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Valley View, which notched a 17-10 victory over JW North in its previous outing. The win brought Poly's winning streak to three games. The loss ended Valley View's two-game winning streak.
Valley View (5-4) goes up against Canyon Springs in a Inland Valley game matchup next week, while Poly (7-2) locks horns with JW North also in a Inland Valley game.
