The Random Lake Rams will square off against the St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Lancers at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Random Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
While Random Lake's win against Kohler wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Blue Bombers on Thursday. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Blue Bombers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Griffin Donahue was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Zach Schneider was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, St. John's Northwestern Military Academy had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mariners an 8-0 shutout. The Lancers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 28th (when they won 10-0).
Matthias Ericksen was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because St. John's Northwestern Military Academy is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-7 otherwise. Ericksen was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Dula, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of St. John's Northwestern Military Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Andy Hundt, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
St. John's Northwestern Military Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Random Lake, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Random Lake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. John's Northwestern Military Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
