The Millbury Woolies will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Walpole Timberwolves at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Millbury will be looking to keep their ten-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Thursday, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Millbury made off with a 53-52 victory over Burke. Given Millbury's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Burke is ranked 48th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Millbury's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kenny Donnelly led the charge by scoring 18 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Donnelly has scored at least 25% of Millbury's points. Mathias Waire was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Walpole pushed their score all the way to 91 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Norwood by a score of 94-91. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Walpole in their matchups with Norwood: they've now lost four in a row.
