Hobbs has gone 8-2 against Las Cruces recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Hobbs will take on Las Cruces at 4:30 p.m. Hobbs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Hobbs had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Da Vinci on Saturday. Hobbs was the clear victor by a 15-1 margin over Da Vinci. The Eagles not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9, 2024.
Chase Brister tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Hobbs got a massive performance out of Cole Kesner, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Kesner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Montes, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Hobbs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Las Cruces beat IDEA Rio Vista College Preparatory 7-3 on Saturday.
Xander Parra was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bubba Urenda, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Isaiah Borunda was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Hobbs' record now sits at 4-10. As for Las Cruces, their record now sits at 7-2.
Hobbs took their victory against Las Cruces when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 10-3. Does Hobbs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Las Cruces turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
