2A District 3 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Hatch Valley led 2A District 3 in scoring this week after putting up 41 points on Magdalena. Chase Carson threw for 66 yards and one touchdown and ran for 105 yards in the win.
Lordsburg made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 13,199 from 13,671. The improvement was the result of 18-13 victory over the Mavericks last week.
The Bears' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Erik Valdez helped Hatch Valley's passing attack out by catching one ball for 13 yards.
Thomas Cisneros was the best wideout in the league this week as Hatch Valley bested the Steers. Cisneros tallied one reception for 41 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Carson of Jack Cisco's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 527. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, Lordsburg's Wendell Hayes has rushed for 419 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Christian Jimenez. The Mesilla Valley Christian star has seven catches for 243 yards.
