Crescent Valley hasn't had much luck against South Albany recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Raiders will venture away from home to take on the Redhawks at 5:00 p.m. Crescent Valley has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Crescent Valley couldn't beat West Albany on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Raiders came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 24-7.
Abby Kessler and Desi Campbell did some serious damage despite the final result: Kessler got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, while Campbell went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Ashley Howitt, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, South Albany made easy work of North Salem on Monday and carried off a 17-1 victory. The game marked the Redhawks' most dominant win of the season.
Maddie Angel was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Tschida, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
South Albany always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.
South Albany's record is now 6-12. As for Crescent Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Crescent Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like South Albany struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Crescent Valley couldn't quite finish off South Albany when the teams last played back in April and fell 18-16. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
