Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Haskell). Everything went their way against the Liberty Tigers on Friday as they made off with a 17-3 victory. The win was nothing new for the Haymakers as they're now sitting on three straight.
Elias Gonzales was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.
In other pitching news, Nevin Sheedy looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Jaxon Drain was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Noah Ellis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Haskell's record now sits at 4-1. As for Liberty, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Haskell will take on rival Chouteau-Mazie at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Liberty is set to challenge their familiar foe Hulbert at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
