The Lewisburg Patriots will face off against the Arlington Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Arlington will be up against a hot Lewisburg squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went Lewisburg's way against Mantachie on Thursday as Lewisburg made off with a 9-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Anna Etter and Leona-Klaire Stokes did most of the damage at the plate: Etter went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double, while Stokes scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kara Walker, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Lewisburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, while Arlington put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Cordova. Arlington blew past Cordova 15-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Morgan Cooper was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Clements, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Arlington pushed their record up to 2-0-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Lewisburg, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 6-3.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lewisburg has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Arlington struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lewisburg took their victory against Arlington in their previous meeting back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 12-1. Will Lewisburg repeat their success, or does Arlington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
