The Wheeler County Bulldogs struggled with assists on Tuesday (the East Laurens Falcons had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Wheeler County had to suffer through a rough 61-29 loss at the hands of East Laurens. Wheeler County has not had much luck with East Laurens recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Shiann Carey was Wheeler County's leading scorer, having posted 12 points.
K'dence Mackey held things down on the boards with six rebounds.
Elia Delgado took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Laurens to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deanna Lowther, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 20 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jayla Givens, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Wheeler County dropped their record down to 2-18 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for East Laurens, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Wheeler County will head out on the road to challenge Wilcox County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wilcox County will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Wheeler County surely won't give up without a fight. As for East Laurens, they will head out on the road to square off against Dublin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Laurens is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
