Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs proved on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 63-46 win over Mountain Ridge. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sunrise Mountain.
Jason Higgins was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Andrew Balian was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 rebounds and ten assists.
When it comes to explaining why Mountain Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaiden Thompson. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Saeva, who scored eight points.
Sunrise Mountain now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Mountain Ridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunrise Mountain will take on Desert Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Mountain has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 415 points over their last five contests. Mountain Ridge and Boulder Creek will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Boulder Creek is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
