There's no place like home for the Green Valley Gators, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They took down Rancho 45-29 on Monday. This was payback for Green Valley, who suffered a 53-41 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Leading Green Valley to victory were Gianessa Vazquez and Amelia Rawhouser. Vazquez scored 12 points along with six rebounds, while Rawhouser scored five points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Rawhouser hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Layaa Allred, who scored five points along with nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Rancho still got an impressive performance from Taylor Dagons, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Claudia Vargas-Arellano was another key contributor, scoring a point along with four steals.
Rancho struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Green Valley pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Green Valley's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-20. As for Rancho, they dropped their record down to 12-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Green Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rancho, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southeast Career Tech at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Southeast Career Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
