Softball Recap: Poland Seminary Wins Going Away Against Mckinley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Range, Poland Seminary was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the McKinley Red Dragons 17-1. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Madison Medvec made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Bulick, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Elliana Thompson was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Poland Seminary always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Poland Seminary has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for McKinley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

McKinley has already played their next contest, a 6-2 defeat against Harding on the 1st. Hopefully Poland Seminary paid attention to the Red Dragons' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Red Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
