Even though the Fort Meade Miners scored an imposing 69 points on Friday, the Frostproof Bulldogs still came out on top. Frostproof secured a 74-69 W over Fort Meade. The score was all tied up 32-32 at the break, but Frostproof was the better team in the second half.
Sevastian Rosado continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 34 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Frostproof's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maurice Blakely, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Several Miners players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mekhi Berrien, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Berrien scored 15 or more points. Ryan Screen was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Frostproof and bumps their season record up to 10-3. As for Fort Meade, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frostproof will take on Hardee at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hardee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 673rd, while Frostproof is ranked 288th). As for Fort Meade, Fort Meade and Vanguard will face off at 12:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Vanguard comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
