Piper made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Western, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bengals fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Bengals' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jimmy Engle was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Piper saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tommy Velez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Piper's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Western, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piper will challenge Cardinal Gibbons at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Western, they will head out to challenge Goleman at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
