Rapides is 0-5 against the Indians since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Rapides Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Tioga Indians at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of four wins, Rapides' good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 51-28 walloping at the hands of Avoyelles Charter. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Rapides has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Rapides saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Antwon Jones, who scored eight points along with four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last three games he's played. Zayveian Johnson was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Tioga took a serious blow against the Patriots on Tuesday, falling 64-32. Tioga has not had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Rapides' defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-10. As for Tioga, they dropped their record down to 17-13 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Rapides took a serious blow against the Indians when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 44-9. Can Rapides avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
