The Douglass Eagles pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to Bladensburg. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Douglass has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Douglass lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kwari Harvey. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with seven assists and three steals. The game was Harvey's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Emmanuel Carson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Douglass and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Bladensburg, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Douglass will head out on the road to face off against Potomac at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Potomac is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Bladensburg and Huntingtown will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Huntingtown is ranked 198th, while Bladensburg is ranked 188th).
