The Burns Broncs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 20th straight defeat. They took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pine Bluffs. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Burns in their matchups with Pine Bluffs: they've now lost five in a row.
Burns' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaw Martin, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mason Medley, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Burns struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are winless (0-4) when they just don't pass the ball.
Burns' loss was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Pine Bluffs, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burns will take on Lingle-Fort Laramie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lingle-Fort Laramie's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for Pine Bluffs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Niobrara County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Niobrara County will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Pine Bluffs surely won't give up without a fight.
