Even though the East Union Urchins have not done well against the New Albany Bulldogs recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. East Union walked away with a 72-64 victory over New Albany. The victory made it back-to-back wins for East Union.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kylan Lindsey, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Issac Gilbert, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
East Union has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for New Albany, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.
East Union won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Union at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. West Union knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 20 matchups -- so hopefully East Union likes a good challenge. As for New Albany, they will head out on the road to face off against South Pontotoc at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (South Pontotoc is ranked 63rd, while New Albany is ranked 59th).
