Basketball Recap: Fort Thomas Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ray

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Thomas). They breezed by the Ray Bearcats to the tune of 86-23 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Apaches sure are getting used to it with their 12th in a row.

Leading Fort Thomas to victory were Adaia Lorenzo and Jamie Johnson. Lorenzo went 8 for 15 en route to 24 points in addition to five assists and four steals, while Johnson went 9 of 18 on her way to 18 points along with seven steals and five boards. The dominant performance gave Lorenzo a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Benally, who posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals.

Fort Thomas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 12 consecutive games.

Fort Thomas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Ray, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-14.

Fort Thomas and Ray's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Fort Thomas and Joseph City (who has only given up 24.38 points per game) will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Fort Thomas will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Similarly, Ray will challenge Duncan at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, a team that's only allowed 22.86 points per game. Fort Thomas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season.
