The Central Grizzlies will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Clovis North Broncos at 7:08 p.m. on November 24th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Central had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 victory over Liberty on Friday.
Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was David Marquez, who threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Marquez has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Braylen Hall was in the mix too, providing Central with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Clovis North put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 34-28 W over Clovis East. Clovis North pushed the score to 34-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Clovis East cut but never quite recovered from.
Jackson Cinfel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 255 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.8 yards per carry. Cinfel's longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards. Mario Cosma was another key contributor, throwing for 41 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Clovis North, they pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Central came up short against Clovis North in their previous meeting back in October, falling 27-20. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Clovis North's Cinfel, who rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns.
