Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Regis Groff). They breezed by the Hinkley Thunder to the tune of 100-42 on Wednesday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 58-32.
Javelle Taylor was nothing short of spectacular: he went 12 for 20 on his way to 29 points in addition to 14 steals and 11 assists. Another player making a difference was Davonte Robinson, who went 7 of 13 en route to 21 points along with seven assists and five steals.
Regis Groff smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hinkley only pulled down four offensive boards.
Hinkley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malachi Holden, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Marques Yarbough, who put up ten points and seven boards.
The win was the third in a row for Regis Groff, bringing their record for this year to 8-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Hinkley, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.
