This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Kaden Islami and Mirsad Cekovic. Islami rushed for 118 yards and one score on only 15 carries while Cekovic rushed for 75 yards on only eight carries. Those 118 rushing yards gave Islami a new career-high.
Bethel didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gavyn Spielmann and Zac Yamano. Spielmann got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Pomperaug lost 40-14 to Sheehan on Friday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Pomperaug now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Bethel, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
