The Stivers School for the Arts Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 84-62 defeat at the hands of Walnut Ridge. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Stivers School for the Arts still got an impressive performance from Kevon Bozeman, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Bozeman set a new season high mark in rebounds with ten. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaury Hawes, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Stivers School for the Arts were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Walnut Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Marquis Lucas out in front who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. LJ Foster was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Stivers School for the Arts' loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-3. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Walnut Ridge, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stivers School for the Arts' road trip will continue as they head out to face Belmont at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. One thing working in Belmont's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Walnut Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Africentric Early College at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
