The Willis Wildkats can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They breezed by Cleveland at home to the tune of 79-45. Willis' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Willis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amy Roberts led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Roberts scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kaleigh Kibbey, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Willis' win bumped their record up to 2-14. As for Cleveland, they bumped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Willis will square off against College Park at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. College Park presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Willis in Texas (College Park is ranked 472nd, while Willis is ranked 1383rd). Cleveland will be home for the holidays to greet The Woodlands at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
