Catholic AAA Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Gary Merrill Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Starting off the list is St. Anthony's Gary Merrill, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Merrill rushed for 225 yards and five touchdowns on only 12 carries. Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 2.2 rushing touchdowns per game. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2023.
Merrill and St. Anthony's will head out on the road to square off against Cardinal Hayes at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Friars had to take a loss when they last met the Cardinals, but Merrill had little to do with the loss: he rushed for 139 yards, and also threw for 116 yards on 12 of 24 attempts. Can he match (or beat) that performance?
