It was a good run, but the First Academy Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Redeemer Christian 36-32. First Academy lost against Redeemer Christian in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 42-21 score last time.
First Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carolina Boque, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Schwartz, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Redeemer Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Laramie Butler out in front who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Butler has scored all season. Selena Martin was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six assists and six rebounds.
First Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Redeemer Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.
First Academy will head out on the road to face off against St. John Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. John Lutheran will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Redeemer Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Real Life Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Real Life Christian Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
