McClatchy moved up to 832 from 864 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Metropolitan. The Lions were able to move up by besting Valley 46-21.
Rosemont added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Kennedy, 51-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Wolverine.
Floyd Hillis-Cooper provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Cougars fell to Rosemont.
Hillis-Cooper was a force in the backfield as Kennedy lost to Rick Wanlin's team.
Deon Johnson was a key player and the best on defense this week as Florin lost to Sacramento. The 5-foot-8 senior.
Hillis-Cooper was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 249 yards on 42 carries as Matthew Costa's team fell to the Dragons. Teammate Silencio Ratkowski added to the ground attack by rushing for 19 yards.
Florin's Junior Valdez and Conerly-Smith have formed a dream team this season, leading Metropolitan in both passing and receiving yards. Valdez has thrown for 435 yards this season, while Conerly-Smith, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 22 catches for 381 yards. The Cougars' Hillis-Cooper leads the league in rushing yards with 758.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Burbank takes on Sacramento. The Titans' offense has scored 121 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Paul Doherty's team has allowed only 36 on the year.
