After flying high against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent on Thursday, the DeSoto County Bulldogs came back down to earth. DeSoto County's tough 62-38 loss to Moore Haven on Friday might stick with them for a while. DeSoto County found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post eight fewer assists than your opponent.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rylan Unruh, who scored six points along with five rebounds. Isaac Clarke was another key contributor, scoring six points.
DeSoto County struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Moore Haven's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shakur Williams, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Clarence Hunter, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
DeSoto County's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-15. As for Moore Haven, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeSoto County and Fort Meade will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
