Basketball Recap: North Charleston Takes a Loss

North Charleston lost against Oceanside Collegiate Academy last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The North Charleston Cougars took a 61-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oceanside Collegiate Academy Landsharks. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Landsharks are ranked first).

Despite the loss, North Charleston still got an impressive performance from Richard Hazel III, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 15 points and eight boards. Hazel III has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Marcus Simmons was another key player, putting up ten points.

Jake Thomas was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds for Oceanside Collegiate Academy. Those 15 boards gave Thomas a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abe Davinroy, who posted 11 points.

North Charleston's record now sits at 14-10. As for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 20-1.

North Charleston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, they will face off against Hanahan at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Oceanside Collegiate Academy's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Hanahan has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
