The Poly Engineers won the last time they faced the Carver Vo-Tech Bears, and things went their way on Saturday too. Poly secured a 52-46 W over the Bears. The win made it back-to-back wins for Poly.
Poly's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elisha Kutcherman led the charge by scoring 16 points along with four steals. Kutcherman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Gaymon II, who scored seven points along with five assists and five steals.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dorrian Sands, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Sands posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Matthews, who scored ten points.
Poly's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Carver Vo-Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.
Poly will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Eagles at 5:15 p.m. As for Carver Vo-Tech, they will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mergenthaler Vo-Tech will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
