Cathedral Catholic took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They breezed past the Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders to the tune of 52-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Dons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Crusaders are ranked 94th).
Leading Cathedral Catholic to victory were Honor Faalave and Brady Palmer. Faalave rushed for 104 yards, while Palmer threw for 182 yards and two TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Those 104 rushing yards gave Faalave a new career-high. A healthy portion of Palmer's aerial production (86 yards to be exact) went to Parker Johnson.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cathedral Catholic will take on Saint Francis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mater Dei Catholic, they will face off against Granite Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
