Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fillmore Central). They blew past the Schaeffer Academy Lions 76-35 on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Falcons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Lions are ranked 66th).

With the win, Fillmore Central broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5. As for Schaeffer Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fillmore Central will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against Rushford-Peterson at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Rushford-Peterson's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Schaeffer Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mabel-Canton at 7:15 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
