The Shenendehowa Plainsmen put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Ballston Spa 56-12 at home. The result was nothing new for Shenendehowa, who have now won six matches by 34 points or more so far this season.
Shenendehowa can attribute much of their success to Michael Whatley, who threw for 237 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Mello, who gained 84 total yards and three touchdowns.
Shenendehowa's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB nine times. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
Shenendehowa's victory was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-1 Niskayuna and 7-3 Shaker (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.2% over those games). As for Ballston Spa, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Shenendehowa will take on Christian Brothers Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Christian Brothers Academy is ranked 12th, while Shenendehowa is ranked ninth). Ballston Spa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
