This season hasn't been kind to the Liberty Leopards, who are still winless after their sixth game. They were dealt a 44-14 defeat at the hands of Brookfield on Monday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Liberty has scored all season.
Cailey Wellman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Brookfield, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 20 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Wellman has scored at least 25% of Brookfield's points. Mya Jumper was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Liberty bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Brookfield, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-3.
Liberty will square off against Newton Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brookfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crestview at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Crestview is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
