It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Evansville Memorial Tigers can now relate to. They took a serious blow against East Central on Friday, falling 47-7. Evansville Memorial's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Evansville Memorial saw an underclassman step up: Dylen Kendrick rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Kendrick was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards.
Josh Ringer was his usual excellent self, rushing for 214 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Ringer is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Maxwell, who rushed for 117 yards on only eight carries.
Evansville Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for East Central, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0.
Evansville Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. East Central will be playing at home against New Palestine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Palestine is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
