The Xenia Buccaneers won the last time they faced the Fairborn Skyhawks, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Xenia enjoyed a cozy 42-28 victory over Fairborn. Given Xenia's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while Fairborn is ranked 744th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Xenia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tayler Elliott out in front who scored 17 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaiya Meaux, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Xenia's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Fairborn, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Xenia will play host again and welcome Piqua, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Piqua is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Fairborn, they will be playing at home against Stebbins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
