The Omaha South Packers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Papillion-LaVista at home by a decisive 74-59 margin. Omaha South has not had much luck with Papillion-LaVista recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Omaha South's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ramon Ware, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Kimble, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Omaha South struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Papillion-LaVista pulled down 25 offensive rebounds.
Papillion-LaVista got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eric Ingwerson out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Garin Maley, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Omaha South's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Papillion-LaVista, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Omaha South will take on Westview at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Westview presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Omaha South in Nebraska (Westview is ranked 88th, while Omaha South is ranked 240th). Papillion-LaVista won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Millard South at 5:15 p.m. on January 6th. Millard South is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
