The Linden Lions will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Golden Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Linden at home against Weston Ranch as the team secured a 48-7 victory. Given Linden's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Weston Ranch is ranked 726th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Linden to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Schallberger, who threw for 381 yards and three touchdowns. Landen Ly was another key contributor, rushing for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Meanwhile, everything went Golden Valley's way against El Capitan on Friday as Golden Valley made off with a 31-7 victory. The win was just what Golden Valley needed coming off of a 63-28 defeat in their prior match.
Tyrrell Johnson was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 110 yards on only 12 carries.
The win makes it two in a row for Linden and bumps their season record up to 8-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38 points. As for Golden Valley, their win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-4.
