The Pine Lake Prep Pride had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They secured a 78-74 W over Lincoln Charter. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Pine Lake Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Wes Statzer out in front who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Strickfaden, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kelan Flowers, who almost dropped a triple-double on 20 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Flowers hasn't dropped below 16 points for four straight games. Cairo Morales was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds.
Pine Lake Prep pushed their record up to 14-6 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.1 points per game. As for Lincoln Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.
Pine Lake Prep will head out on the road to square off against the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Langtree Charter has now lost 14 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 11. As for Lincoln Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bradford Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Eagles are ranked 103rd).
