The Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 11th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 65-32 loss at the hands of Benet Academy. Joliet Catholic was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-16.
Joliet Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Sophia Mihelich and Allie Lesters. Mihelich scored 16 points along with two steals, while Lesters scored six points. That was a full 50% of Joliet Catholic's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Joliet Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 17 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-25 record this season. As for Benet Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Joliet Catholic will take on the Corsairs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carmel presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Hilltoppers in Illinois (the Corsairs are ranked 90th, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 432nd). As for Benet Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. Montini Catholic is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
