Softball Recap: South Broward Triumphs

South Broward proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 21) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Taravella Trojans 6-4. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Angelina Romero 2027 was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Onya Lee-Golightly 2025 was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Cheyenne Bradley 2025 also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

South Broward kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

South Broward has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. The loss snapped Taravella's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-4 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Broward will head out to square off against Monarch at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. South Broward is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Taravella, they will venture away from home to face off against Coral Glades at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
