Mesa Ridge narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Palmer 60-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Mesa Ridge has posted yet this season.
Mesa Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tevin Riehl, who scored 22 points along with five assists and five steals. Riehl continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tanner Widic, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Palmer's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was J'twane Mike, who scored 19 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mike has scored all season. Walker Asp was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Mesa Ridge's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Palmer, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesa Ridge will take on The Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully The Classical Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. As for Palmer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
