Gibson Southern got a great performance from Brogan McClellan as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. McClellan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Collin Higginbotham and Brayden Campbell did most of the damage at the plate: Higginbotham went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Campbell went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits Higginbotham has posted since back in May of 2024. Crewe Hasenour also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Gibson Southern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Spencer only posted a batting average of .222.
Meanwhile, Princeton entered their tilt with Tell City on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Marksmen, sneaking past 4-2.
Conor Marsh was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Jarrett Kinder, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Princeton pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Gibson Southern, their record now sits at 8-2.
Gibson Southern couldn't quite finish off Princeton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
