The Caledonia Warriors will take on the Wabasha-Kellogg Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Caledonia will be strutting in after a win while Wabasha-Kellogg will be coming in after a loss.
Caledonia is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since May 14, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past St. Charles 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Fighting Saints: they've now won eight in a row.
Garrett Konz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyson Ginther, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Wabasha-Kellogg came up short against Rushford-Peterson on Monday, falling 9-1. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Garret Pavelka put in work no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pavelka was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Pavelka wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Olcott, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.
Wabasha-Kellogg's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Caledonia, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Wabasha-Kellogg's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Caledonia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. It's a different story for Wabasha-Kellogg, though, as they've only averaged .198. Will they be able to contain Caledonia's hitters?
Caledonia was able to grind out a solid victory over Wabasha-Kellogg in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
