It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 57-20, which was the final score in Strawberry Crest's tilt against Plant City on Friday. While losing is never fun, Strawberry Crest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 359th, while Plant City is ranked 175th).
The losing side was boosted by Devin Blunt, who rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Lakeland Christian can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 44-0 win over Ambassadors Christian Academy. The victory was just what Lakeland Christian needed coming off of a 35-7 defeat in their prior contest.
The critical scores for Lakeland Christian came from Brent Curtis, Cam Ledlow, and Zack Lester.
Lakeland Christian's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB six times. Ambassadors Christian Academy's QB won't forget Henry MacDonald anytime soon given MacDonald sacked him six times.
Strawberry Crest has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Lakeland Christian, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Strawberry Crest has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 158.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lakeland Christian struggles in that department as they've been even better at 216.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
