Basketball Recap: Rio Rancho Skates Past Capital with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rio Rancho). They blew past the Capital Jaguars, posting an 84-41 win. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 24 points or more this season.

Kayden Decker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 9 on his way to 19 points in addition to four steals and three blocks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Lucero, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 14 points and five steals.

Rio Rancho smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive matchups.

Rio Rancho has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.8 points. As for Capital, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Rio Rancho didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 89-59 victory against Eldorado on the 7th. As for Capital, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 66-41 win against Los Alamos on the 7th.
