In what's become a running theme this season, Hillcrest gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 70-39 victory over Patriot. Given Hillcrest's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Patriot is ranked 798th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Arlington waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They blew past Ramona, posting a 82-42 win at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Arlington has posted since November 13, 2023.
Arlington's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Lincoln Liggins, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds, and Ryan Wheeler, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 21 rebounds. Wheeler hasn't dropped below 15points for 13 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Titus Liggins, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Hillcrest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Arlington, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.
Hillcrest strolled past Arlington in their previous meeting on January 9th by a score of 56-42. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Wheeler, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.
