Patton took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Draughn, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Patton wouldn't go down easily and took Draughn into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 23-25, 23-25, 25-20, 16-14.
Patton had a senior duo take command as Carly Setterlind had 13 digs and five assists and Kayla Morris had ten digs and one assist. Setterlind has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last three times she's played. Chesney Hensley also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Patton was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 18 consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Patton's record is now 11-3. As for Draughn, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5.
